What to wear?

Lately I have been recieving a lot of questions on "What should I wear for my portraits?" So I put this guide together to help you decide on your choice of clothing and the style that says who you are.

Whether you are here for Senior Portraits, Personal, Family, or Engagement Portraits the following tips will help you choose your style.

Are you a traditional type of person? Perhaps you are more the modern type of person? Are you into Sports and Recreation type portraits? Which ever type of style you posess, your style should say who you are.

Here are a few do's and don't that you might want to follow, when preparing for your portraits..........................................

For your Hair

You might not want to choose the day before your portrait session to try out a new and dramatic hair style. If you want that new cut and style, you might want to wait or give yourself some time to get used to your new style, before booking your portrait session, in case your cut is too short or not exactly what you wanted.

Make sure to bring any items that you may need to touch up your hair style, in case we do an outdoor shoot and the winds pick up.

Clothing

When choosing your outfits to wear for your portrait session remember that solid colors are flattering on everyone and photograph well. Also try to remember that patterns that are strong, can distract from your portaits.

Make sure your clothing is comfortable, fits well, and is ironed.

Don't forget to choose your jewelry to flatter both you and your portraits. Remeber that large pieces can distract from your face. Also don't forget that you will want your jewlery to coordinate with your outfits, they are accessories that help speak of your style.

Don't forget to bring shoes that coordinate with the outfits that you have choosen for your portrait session. Also don't forget to bring socks, either white or dark, which ever fits your outfit the best, as they might show in your portraits.

And ladies, you will want to make sure that your underclothing fits your outfit, as you will not want your straps showing in your portraits. You will also want to coodinate your colors so that you will not have dark colors, showing perhaps under your white/pastel blouse/dress.

Glasses

If you wear glasses, you might remember that glasses can give off a glare, under the bright, photographer's lighting. If at all possible you might want to wear your contacts. If you don't wear contacts, you can always go to your optomotrist and get an extra set of frames, without the lens. And you can always take the lenses from your current frames, to help avoid the glare.

A few odds and ends

Guys, if you shave at the beginning of your day, you might want to wait until right before your portrait session. Also try to avoid those nics and cuts.

Ladies, how are you fingernails? Is the polish scratched or chipped? You will want to remember that these details will also show in your portraits, so make sure to give them a check before you arrive for your session.

Ladies, don't forget you might want to touch up your make-up at some point in our shoot, so make sure you have whatever you need to do your touch ups.

Just remember that your portraits will be unique and special to you,so have fun and don't forget that the small details can make a difference in your portraits.

For the Children

Most of the same tips apply here as they do for our adult clients, but sometimes our younger clients need a few extras.

You might want to make sure they have extra clothes and diapers, you never know when they might experiance an accident.

Make sure you have wipes with you, in case they need to take a break and have a small bite of lunch, especially our youngest clients.

I hope the above tips help you and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call, I am always happy to help you.

I am so excited! I would like to introduce you to...

My new photography assistants and students, Cameron and Jennifer! They are both Seniors at the Colorado School for the Deaf & Blind and they are the greatest assistants, that I could have! They are both fun, entusiastic, and they bring an amazing sense of energy with them, each morning!

Cameron and Jennifer both have a good eye for photography, strong work ethics, and wonderful senses of humor. Jennifer loves working with children and families, while Cameron has a heart for candids and outdoor portraits. He also has an eye and talent for taking landscapes.

Jennifer and Cameron make each morning a delight and I am learning so much from them, as well.

I would also love to take this time to humbly thank, both the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind and Tara Lynn Gray, for presenting my studio with this amazing opportunity to share my photography knowledge with their students and for allowing me this amazing opportunity to learn so much from Jennifer and Cameron!

I hope that you, my clients and future clients will come into the studio and give Cameron and Jennifer a warm welcome and the opportunity to share their photography talents, with you and your families!

Just had to stop......

We went for a drive recently and found three beautiful places. The first is the Penrose House, in Colorado Springs and the next two are in Manatu Springs, The Analedge and The Craftwood Inn. All three places and their beautiful, grounds took my breath away, so I had to stop and take their photographs. If you ever get the chance to visit them, I would suggest it!

I love Fall!

I am not sure if it is the beautiful, rich colors or if it is just the feeling of remembering this season as a child, playing in the leaves, the carmel apples, and warm cider but Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons!

I don't know why......

But I love photographing places that remind me of an era gone by!

We went exploring again............

And had a so much fun finding new places to photograph and re-visiting old places we love! Can you guess where these were taken?

A trip to the zoo......

We took our children to the zoo recently and they loved watching all of the animals. And of course I couldn't resist taking some portraits of a few of the children's favorite's, such as the .............
